My weekend…

…was very lazy indeed. About the most memorable thing I did yesterday was watch Don .

Now, for those of you who weren’t aware, this movie is a remake of the classic 1978 movie starring Amitabh Bachhan. It’s been directed by Farhan Akhtar, who had previous directed two exceptional movies, Dil Chahta Hai and the less famous but no less memorable ; Lakshya . I loved both of those movies because they did an exceptional job of making the audience care about the main characters. We sympathised with them, and understood what they were going through, and rooted for them as they grew and learned from their experiences. Not so much with this movie. It’s essentially a slick action thriller, with little character development. Shah Rukh Khan brings his own inimitable style of ham to the role, thereby making it nearly indistinguishable from his myriad other films in the past. And the ending of the movie, while interesting in concept, made me care even less about the movie in hindsight. You’ll know what I mean when you see it. About the only positive thing about the film was Priyanka Chopra . Mmmm… very nice.

This morning, the four of us went to Mahudi . It’s a very prominent temple in Gujarat, and I’ve been there several times over the last twelve years. It’s a nice place, and always crowded popular. On the way back, we stopped at one of the new Reliance Refresh rest stops. It was quite impressive, actually. They had a few counters serving different types of food, and while it wasn’t cheap, the food actually looked somewhat decent. It was very well maintained, and actually looked like a place I would want to eat food.
