Going to Atlanta this weekend for my original Labour Day trip. I must say, the scope of the trip has changed considerably. Not only is my host newly married (which was not on the cards when I made my booking in June), but my arrival corresponds exactly with the beginning of Paryushan . So, not only will I be completely sober for the duration, I won’t be able to go out for dinner either. Nice, simple Jain food only. Yummy.

I’ve been kinda in a funk the last couple of days. Just one of those moods, I guess. Unfortunately, there’s just one thing I can think of to get my mood back up, but as is usually the case, it’s something that’s not in my hands, and knowing my luck, it’s something that probably won’t happen. And it all came about because I couldn’t show some Goddamned patience. I keep screwing myself just when things seem to be looking up, and I’m starting to wonder if, on some subconscious level, ;I’m actually doing it to myself deliberately.

I GOT A NEW CAR!! The 2005 Honda Accord Coupe (yes, Coupe) EX with V6 engine and satellite navigation, with satin silver metallic exterior and black leather interior. And I LOOOOOVE it. ;Pictures will be up soon.

As for Atlanta trip, it was very nice. Wedding was pretty cool, if a little long. Sara is really nice, and it should be really interesting to see her fit in. It’s pretty funny to see this white (and I mean pale white) girl dress in Indian clothes, say Jai Jinendra when meeting someone, and saying things like achha and chalo in her normal conversation. Kalpesh lucked out. The bastard. Good luck, son. ;You done good. Now, lets see how much fun we can have when I’m back there for my regularly scheduled Labour Day trip.

A cool cricket link for now. Will write more about Atlanta trip later.

So, Monday was an exceptional day. Let’s see:
1) The 6am arrival at the office, mentioned last time.
2) I had nothing to do, all day. Unfortunately, it’s not like I could randomly surf the web either. I literally sat bored at my desk with nothing to do for 11 hours.
3) The new rotation at work I was hoping to get into? It fell through. It seems they don’t have any open System Engineering positions.
4) I had to cancel my Thanksgiving trip to London, since Deepti probably won’t be able to stay that long. I had a $220 cancellation fee.
5) England was unable to finish Australia off in the cricket match. Damn Kangaroos escaped with a draw.

None of the above was devastating by itself, but taken together, they made for a really annoying day. However, Tuesday started off a bit better, since my new monitor arrived! And my new computer will be shipped within the next couple of days! Let the nerdiness commence!!

BTW, I finally finished the Man on Fire DVD. It was a pretty good movie. It was all the more enjoyable for me, since I read the original book back when I was 10. Fun stuff.

Ugh… I had to drop Hemal off at the airport for his 6am flight, and I decided there was no real point in going back home for just an hour, so here I am, at work, at 6 fecking am. *groans* Shoot me now, please!!

In other news, England has a good chance of winning the third test match at Manchester. Excitement abounds!!

It’s been an interesting week. Woke up on Thursday the 4th, and discovered that I was unable to move my head without great pain in my neck and shoulders. Turns out, I’d strained the muscles in that area. See kids? This is what happens when you go from Couch Potato to Mr. Activity, and don’t warm-up, cool-down or stretch appropriately. The doctor prescribed Motrin and said it would get better in a few weeks, but I shouldn’t try to rush it. Sooo, on Friday night, I went to a drive-in (saw Wedding Crashers, which was pretty funny), then went dancing at the Buddha Lounge (which was lots of fun. ). Saturday night, we were celebrating Rinki’s birthday at Club Glo, where I was dancing again. Both nights, I got home at 4-ish am. Sunday, I had a Mexican brunch. Overall, a fun weekend.

Ooooohhh, and I bought something(s) on Amazon. The third volume is being released in October, so that’s when they’ll ship all 3 sets. I’m excited!! ;Nishma said I was a huge dork, and it’s a badge I wear proudly. ;I also bought two more games with the gift card Seema gave me. Thanks Sayani!!

India lost again… I must say though, Sri Lanka played very well to recover from the position they were in. Still, some worrying signs for the new Indian coach?

Which reminds me. I’m currently ;watching Sports Night on Netflix, and it’s a very good show. The show originally aired in 1998-2000, and one of the episodes last night ;mentioned the news of a cricketer in New Delhi taking ;all 10 wickets. Obviously, I realised they were talking about Anil Kumble. However, two things annoyed me about the episode. When one guy was asking the others what they knew about cricket, all anyone could say is “I think they drink tea”. The guy said, “there are other countries out there, you know”, and no one seemed to care. *sighs* . The other thing that annoyed me was that they got the name wrong. Instead of Anil Kumble, they called him Chauncey St. John. Yes, they called him Chauncey St. John. Now, if they’d gotten everything else wrong as well, I might not have minded so much. It could have been treated as a fictional news story. But they also mentioned that Raj Rajhans (another mistake, it should have been Moin Khan) was caught by Saurav Ganguly (a real name) in the slips. ARGH!! If you’re gonna mention it, at least make the effort to get it right.

BTW, I got a 3’4″ long, 1.25″ wide ;stick at Home Depot yesterday for my martial arts class today. Let the ass-kicking ;commence.

Lastly, it’s the birthday of one of the most beautiful women in the world. I want her. I really do.

Went to the Gilroy Garlic Festival on Saturday with Ranju and Sameer. Was a lot of fun. I didn’t have as much garlic as I thought I might, but I did eat a lot of food, and I did taste garlic ice cream. And it actually wasn’t bad.

Saw ; War of the Worlds yesterday, and it was ok. Wasn’t that great, but it wasn’t bad either. The special effects are the only reason to watch it on the big screen, otherwise it’s definitely a DVD movie. Now I want to watch The Wedding Crashers and Fantastic Four . Maybe this weekend.

BTW, I finished that anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist. Soooooo good!!! I downloaded the soundtrack and there are some melodies that are literally haunting. Most of the music pieces are less than 2 minutes long, but they still pack an emotional punch. Currently, I’m watching Sports Night ; and yes Cupcake, it does live up to the hype.
