Yesterday was a very … mixed day. Let’s recap:

Things were going fine until the afternoon. It was my day off, and I had gone to work to earn some extra vacation time. Around 4:45p, I went to the gym so i could workout before heading home and going to Frisco. During my first set of exercises, I’m doing pullups when I feel my neck tweak a little. Specifically, the area where my neck connects to my shoulder on the left side. I think that’s my trapezius. Anyway, smart guy that I am, I continue working out and finish my routine, even though my range of motion is a little hampered. I know it’s not good, but I wanna see if it’ll work itself out.

I get home, and get ready to go to San Francisco to meet up with Sriram and friends. Traffic is moving at about 30-40 mph on most of 101, so that wasn’t much fun either. When I got there, I found the parking garage quickly (thankfully), but after I parked the car, I realised that the parking ticket had gotten itself stuck inside the handbrake assembly. In trying to get it out, I pushed it down even deeper. I got the parking lot attendants to take a look, but by this point, the ticket was gone. End result, I had to pay $13, which was the price for a lost ticket. On top of that, the tip of my index finger had started bleeding from jamming it down the handbrake assembly. Plus, my neck was starting to bother me more.

Dinner was at a Japanese restaurant in Japantown. Not too bad. I had some tempura with egg. My first time eating with chopsticks for more than 5 minutes. I wasn’t too good, but I got the job done eventually. After that, the 8 of us went to a karaoke place where we proceeded to butcher all sorts of songs. From 80’s rock (Bon Jovi, Guns ‘n Roses) to boy bands (N’Sync) to contemporary (Goo Goo Dolls). 3 hours of goodness. By this time, I was starting to sporadically feel some weird sensations in my left arm. Nothing major, but enough to get me a little worried.

After the night’s festivities, I drove home and went to sleep. I figured a good night’s rest would help with my neck. Currently, it’s feeling a little better right now, but I’m definitely not going to push it. This will be a very slow weekend, full of video games, Netflix, and working out the details of my very first election on Tuesday.

Feel free to give me a call. I could certainly use the love.

Then again, I don’t know if there’s anyone left who has my number that still reads this thing. Que Sera Sera.

Someone I know posted this in her AIM profile, and I felt like pasting it here.

Wait for the person who will make an ordinary moment seem magical, the kind of person who brings out the best in you and makes you want to be a better person, wait for the person who will be your best friend, the person who will drop everything to be with you at any time of the day no matter what the circumstances, wait for the person who makes you smile like no other person makes you smile and when they smile you know they need you, wait for the person who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats and no makeup on, but appreciates it when you get all dolled up for them, and most of all wait for the person who will put you at the center of their universe, because obviously that person is at the center of yours.

Why did I copy it here? Because it’s idealistic, unrealistic, naive, and it describes my dream girl almost perfectly.

I’ve been on this workout program for the past 4 weeks, and I’ve been seeing some pretty good results. I can see my arms getting bigger, and I’ve been getting stronger every week. But, for some reason, I haven’t been getting any slimmer. Odd thing is, I’ve been about the same weight. The reason this is odd is because muscle is denser than fat, meaning the same weight takes less space. So if I’m gaining muscle and staying same weight, I should be getting slimmer. I’m guessing I’m gaining muscle faster than I can lose weight, which is fine by me. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but that’s ok.

BTW, I am so looking forward to “The Incredibles”. It’s gonna be amazing!!

Also, I just added an RSS feed from this blog to my Friendster profile, so people there can read it too. Yay!

Lastly, I found out what biological molecule I am. How about you?

You are water. You’re not really organic; you’re
neither acidic nor basic, yet you’re an acid
and a base at the same time. You’re strong
willed and opinionated, but relaxed and ready
to flow. So while you often seem worthless,
without you, everything would just not work.
People should definitely drink more of you
every day.

Hooters is coming to India. ;I just had to get that off my chest. ;More on this later.

Update It seems that this is actually somewhat old news. Hooters announced its decision to expand to India a couple of months ago. It still boggles my mind though. Now, I personally have never been to Hooters. I’m vegetarian, so the food holds no appeal, and if I want to see scantily clad women, I’ll just watch porn.

Anyway, I just can’t fathom how they expect to get away with it. I mean, I’ve heard that Hooters has some good food and beer (and we Indians like us some beer), but their main attractions are the attractive, well-endowed waitresses in skimpy clothing. Given that India is a country where KFC was protested against (for its MSG content, among other things), it’s inevitable that there will be all kinds of protests and morchas against this restaurant that is against Indian values . I’m not saying I agree with the protesters. I just see it coming. We’ll just see how it turns out.

On a side note, I’m watching “The 27 Greatest South Park Episodes Ever” on Comedy Central. They’re counting down, and we’re on #18. And you would not believe how many commercials I’ve seen for Girls Gone Wild. There have been at least 4 per episode. I know they gotta sell these things, but DAMN!

I’m not even going to bother apologizing anymore for my lack of updates. However, I had to write about this past weekend, so enjoy…

Last Monday, I got a phone call from Amit in NYC. It seemed his roommates were throwing a bachelor party for him on Saturday (Oct 8th). Since I’m not going to be at his wedding (it’s in India in the first week of Dec, and I get to India 2 weeks after that), I decided to go, late notice be damned. Got a ticket on JetBlue (love that DirectTV for every seat), and was there. The party itself was very… stereotypical. We hired some “adult entertainment” to come to the apartment, which was enjoyable. It was my first time too. Then, we decided that we hadn’t had enough, so we went to an “adult entertainment” establishment. Got there at 1, left at closing time at 4. We walked back to the apartment (only a few blocks away), I got my stuff, and walked to the bus stop where I caught the shuttle bus back to the airport. In other words, a busy weekend.

In other news, I’ve been torn about something. I’ve been trying to keep to a promise I made to myself about how I would handle a certain situation, and I’ve found it increasingly difficult to stick to that promise. I’ve given myself a deadline, but I’m not sure if it’ll even get that far. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It seems the Chirag curse is continuing.
