It’s Sunday night, and I’m going to start my second week of my Analytical Skill Workshop this July before the formal beginning of classes in August. So far, it’s been pretty good. I’m signed up for 2.5 classes, so I have a fair amount of reading and homework to complete, but it’s not unmanageable by any means, especially if I get an early start on things, which I’ve been doing to a surprising degree. It’s also cool that I’m not finding any of the material boring, and all the professors are at least decent.
At 8am, I have Microeconomics. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be to get up for that in the morning. 9:30 is Statistics, and the professor is probably my favourite. He’s definitely got some personality, which helps given the subject material. The half class is Finance, and it only counts as half a class because it’s every other day.
On top of all this are all the presentations and workshops that we’ve had to go to. There was a presentation on communications (that professor is particularly memorable), a case analysis workshop, and even a presentation from the Wall Street Journal about the benefits of subscribing (I’m still not convinced).
But I especially like the social events. There’s one event per week on average (this first week had two), and it’s a great opportunity to meet a lot of the other students. It’s nice that I’m starting to recognise more and more of them, and more importantly, I’m remembering their names.
All in all, a great start to business school. Let’s see how it continues.

I ate sooo much food this weekend. Had pizza for dinner twice on Friday (yes, you read that right) including a couple of slices at 2:30am. A full IHOP brunch on Saturday was followed by chips and guacamole and 1.5 plates of molten chocolate cake with ice cream 12 hours later. And today… dear God! A Mediterranean buffet brunch, small Jamba Juice, slice of cheesecake, then dinner (big veggie burger, slice of cornbread and some chips with queso).
I swear to God, I’m fasting for the next week, while gymming for two hours daily. Ugh…

Wow, this certainly has been a long break. In the interim, I’ve gotten married, gone on my honeymoon, moved to Chicago, and begun the process of relocation to Chapel Hill. I’ll try to keep this thing updated a little more frequently, especially since I’ll hopefully have more to write about once B-School starts. Let’s see how long it lasts this time.

A wandering spirit caring for a multitude of just concerns, you are an instrumental power in many of the causes around you.
And so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord.

I’m going to be a Tar Heel in August. I guess this means I’ll have to watch those damn basketball games with Dina. *sigh*
Hehehehe….

After going through the application process over the last 5+ months (and spending plenty of money in the process), today is the day I find out once and for all what I’m going to be doing for the next few years. In less than 24 hours, UNC gets back to me with their decision. *sighs* Cross your fingers.

Harvard, Chicago, MIT and Berkeley have all decided, in their infinite wisdom, that they would prefer to forsake the many benefits that I would bring by being enrolled in their respective MBA programs. I say fuck ‘em. Bastards wouldn’t even give me an interview.
On Monday the 4th, I get the official response from UNC, the last school remaining. At least I got to interview there (albeit everyone who applies is expected to interview. It’s not by invitation), so I was able to sell my case in person, which helped, I think. Regardless, in five days I find out if I’m going to business school or not. Fingers crossed, but I’m still keeping my resume ready. *sigh*

Haven’t been to the gym in a few days, so haven’t updated that. But last time I measured my weight (admittedly on Thursday), I was at 192, so I’m feeling pretty good about that.
I think the worst thing about missing a day or two, for whatever reason, is that it’s hard for me to motivate myself to resume. Blah.
